
Ms. L’Esperance was a dedicated professional nurse for over 35 years. She received her Bachelors’ Degree in Nursing at Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. and her Masters’ Degree from Case-Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. She was an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of New Mexico, Director of Nursing Continuing Education for the State of New Mexico, and worked at a large Metropolitan hospital
as a clinical nurse specialist. She championed the cause to improve healthcare practices in NM for women and their newborn babies through research and professional practice. Through the development of a non-profit coalition that she helped start, many hospitals in New Mexico
improved practice and achieved National Baby Friendly Certification. She is married to the love of her life and has three wonderful children and five amazing grandchildren.
